R1 RCM Coding Liaison-Outpatient Surgery in Detroit, Michigan

As our Coding Liaison you will provide an advanced level of coding review related to potential coding quality concerns at the request of customer leadership (CFO, Clinical Directors, CCO, CMO and others). Everday you will review complex inquiries related to ICD-10 and CPT codes, Modifiers and APC assignment. To thrive in this role you must have outpatient surgery coding experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes requests from customers and collaborative partners noted above to determine if coding quality issues exist. Review results are shared with Local and Regional Coding Site managers, Coding Advisory team and R1 Education and Training team as needed when coding issues are identified

  • Recover potential lost revenue through coding reviews related to medical necessity denials, CPT Mismatch (coding vs. Prior auth) and Inpatient Only designated CPT codes

  • Validates CPT codes designated as Inpatient Only for coders (prebill) and case management (postbill)

  • Identify trended coding quality issues requiring new or refresher coder education for accurate and compliant code, CPT, Modifier and APC assignment

  • Completes thorough coding review for patient or provider complaints related to diagnosis and CPT code assignment

  • Conducts special focused CPT and diagnoses reviews to evaluate for potential reimbursement errors and education trends

  • Acts as CPT expert resource for coding liaison team

Requirements:

  • CPC, CCS, or CCS-P certification or other comparable certifications i.e RHIT, RHIA, etc

  • 5+ years outpatient coding experience

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $24.00 - $41.68 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
