The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has an opening for a Journeyworker Electrician in Lansing, MI, as part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, AFL-CIO, Local Union 352.

Position Summary:

• Responsible for installation and maintenance of a wide variety of components associated with power distribution, substations, and general electrical maintenance at BWL production facilities including but not limited to: Delta Energy Park, Reo Town Generation Facility, Dye Water, Wise Road facilities and all substations

Essential Functions:

• Must have or acquire the ability to install and maintain breakers, transformers, switches, tap changers, on 138KV, and on potentially energized voltages of 13.2KV 480-V and lighting systems
• Installs and repairs electric motors and controls
• Installs electric conduit and cable
• Installs and maintains DC battery system
• Works on computer equipment installations
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
• Required to follow BWL Safety Manual and wear required personal protective equipment
• Must attend training for safety awareness or skills improvement as required by supervisor, BWL or governmental agency such as MIOSHA
• Must be able to respond to code calls or other emergencies within the production facility
• Performs other duties as required or necessitated by job responsibilities
