Overview Join the Healthy Relationships Utah team as a Family Life Educator! As part of a 5-year federal grant, we are hiring 2 Family Life Educators to serve the Salt Lake and/or Davis County regions in-person, and possibly virtually throughout the state. The Family Life Educators will be responsible for implementing family life education programming targeted to justice-involved fathers. Programming promotes father involvement, effective co-parenting, and successful reentry. "Justice-Involved" includes, but is not limited to; fathers within the Department of Corrections, County Jails, Adult Probation and Parole, Addiction Recovery, etc.

Family Life Educators must have a strong desire to strengthen the roles of justice-involved fathers. Curriculum-based courses will be taught virtually and in-person in partnership with correctional facilities and adult probation and parole offices in the listed geographical area and throughout the state. Requirements include reliable transportation to get to partnership venues and a quiet home/workspace from which to facilitate online classes. Family Life Educators will be expected to work independently, remotely, and as a team. The positions will be wage-hourly, non-benefitted, and contingent upon grant funding.

Healthy Relationships Utah is an Extension initiative that offers FREE curriculum-based, relationship skills courses. These courses are taught in-person and virtually in partnership with state agencies, youth-serving organizations, correctional facilities, alternative high schools, behavioral health centers, etc. throughout Utah.  See HealthyRelationshipsUtah.org.

Responsibilities The Family Life Educator will be responsible for all aspects of programming associated with grant sponsored activities. A list of primary responsibilities includes, but is not limited to:

  • Teach evidence-based responsible fatherhood curriculum to justice-involved fathers, virtually and in-person. "Justice-Involved" includes, but is not limited to, fathers within the Department of Corrections, County Jails, Adult Probation and Parole, Addiction Recovery, etc.
  • Develop, coordinate, and maintain partnerships with justice-involved organizations (i.e., jails, prisons).
  • Recruit, retain, and manage class participants.
  • Coordinate with county Extension faculty to support county relationship education initiatives.
  • Coordinate incentives and other programmatic supports where applicable.
  • Maintain program, financial, and performance measurement.
  • Attend and contribute to regular team meetings, trainings, and conferences.
  • Adhere to Domestic Violence prevention and performance measurement protocols.
  • Abide by the terms and conditions of the grant proposal and sponsor guidelines.
