Exhaust Aftertreatment Integration Team is part of the Powertrain group under Chassis and Vocational Engineering. As an Exhaust ATS (Aftertreatment System) Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing best-in-class cost effective components and systems for regulatory compliance, fuel economy, durability and reliability.
Conceptualize, develop, design, and release best-in-class Exhaust Aftertreatment integration solutions for Freightliner and Western Star vehicles
Apply proven engineering principles, industry knowledge and the knowledge of latest technology and methods to design systems that are state of the art, reliable and cost effective
Support truck manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality and service groups
Interact with multi-tier supplier base to ensure conformance of designs to specifications, internal and external customer expectations, engineering practices and government regulations
Utilize proven problem solving techniques to develop quick and effective solutions for any issues in every step of the product development cycle
Support management, other groups and departments in activities related to the responsibility area
Successfully implement projects on time and within budget
Improve competitive market position by keeping abreast of state of the art developments in the trucking industry and apply new knowledge to designs
Generate and implement ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university/college in Mechanical Engineering or related field required, and prefer 2-4 years of relevant experience
2 years of demonstrated CAD expertise, including surface development and solid modeling
Demonstrated strong verbal & written skills
Proven follow-through and ability to work independently
Experience preparing and giving presentations
Understanding of engineering & upstream/downstream processes

- Experience leading implementation of cross-functional improvement initiative
