Job Overview

The Chassis Frame System’s team vision statement is that we are driven to be the backbone of engineering excellence and innovation. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of ladder frame structure for all DTNA products; including diesel and electric powertrains. The ladder frame includes, but not limited to, frame side rails, supporting cross-members, and structural integration of high voltage batteries. In addition, you will be required to implement short and long-term strategies for efficient ladder frame architecture. Collaborate with global partners in the sharing of ideas and opportunities. Provide creative, technically feasible designs that satisfy customer needs while adhering to engineering standards and strategic direction. Coordinate resources to meet project cost, weight and timing targets. Interface with product strategy and validation engineering to understand customer needs and technical system performance. Actively contribute to a positive and supportive culture within engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop ladder frame components such as side rails and cross-members

  • Coordinate with internal design teams for efficient system level engineering

  • Respond, analyze, and propose solutions to issues found through Product Validation

  • Harmonization of technical roadmap with product strategy requirements

  • Collaborate with product validation to develop test specifications

  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentation material for executive audiences

  • Continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices

  • Technical mentorship and development of less experienced engineers

  • Secure system quality through analysis of warranty data, ZEUS, FRACAS, etc

  • Study industry trends and competitor landscape to guide design decisions

  • Interact with global counterparts and exchange best practices

  • Define requirements to suppliers and communicate field and development issues

  • Interact with suppliers to define project requirements

  • Support and design of custom design requests through CWO’s and NOW’s

  • Interact and support internal customers (purchasing, manufacturing, sales, and customers)

  • Actively contribute to an inclusive team culture

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required

  • At least 1 year of group leader, project lead, or mentoring experience required

  • Experience in automotive or medium & heavy truck mechanical design required

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required

  • Experience with NX or other design tools for creating and maintaining packaging studies required

  • Ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams required

  • An attached resume is required

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Master's in Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred

  • Expert Problem solving resolution skills (Shainin RedX, Six Sigma, 8D or similar) preferred

  • Experience managing large amounts of information within database or data extraction preferred

  • Experience as technical representative in medium to large-scale design program preferred
