Job Overview

The Cloud and Software-Defined Network Engineer provides a mix of strategic engineering and design along with handson, technical work. She/he is responsible for leading the network configuration, management, support and troubleshooting efforts in areas that may include the following: Software Defined Network devices which may include; Logical routers, Logical switches, SDN controllers, SDN firewalls, SDN load balancers and VXLan devices, network access points and device paring. Responsibilities - Working with DTNA's manage service providers, ensure that network infrastructure is fully documented and performing as required for internal and customer SLA guarantees and expectations by means of specific metrics and measurements. - Providing strategies including hybrid-cloud, standardization and modernization of legacy environments, Greenfield datacenter builds and migration strategies - Interface with IT management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions to meet business requirements. - Perform analytical, technical, cost analysis and capital expenditure development work in the planning, design, installation and on-going administration and IT management of DTNA core data networks. - Design and manage the rollout of critical network infrastructures to support DTNAs products and services, on both a strategic (long term) and tactical (immediate term) level - Escalation point for technical issues and incidents - Perform build and configuration tasks as necessary to help strategic initiatives - Serve as mentor for technical staff when appropriate

Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university and 5-7 years of related experience required

  • Strong communication skills both in communicating to technical team members and management

  • Must be comfortable working under the pressure of delivering quality results with schedule deadlines and must have a proven track record in meeting schedule for tasks while still meeting or exceeding business requirements and goals required

  • Must be able to work independently as well as with others on work tasks and must demonstrate initiative and ability to self-manage time and work with minimal direction required

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN support, engineering design, structured cabling systems, network facilities, electrical, and UPS for voice, for data and video networks at access, aggregation, and core network locations required

  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams during troubleshooting complex network and application issues required

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco operating systems and architectural design best practices required

  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot issues with network and wireless infrastructure required

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office tools including Visio required

  • An attached resume is required

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Strong background in UNIX operating systems (Linux, Solaris, etc.) and Firewall operating systems ( Checkpoint, Cisco, etc.) preferred

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) upon hire
