In this position, you support the Engineering Quality Group with expertise to lead the functional safety activities pertaining to series production vehicle development. This is an emerging, exciting role, and the right person will drive DTNA's success by helping our engineering departments, customers, and suppliers adopt the new technologies into their operations.
Review and evaluate functional safety requirements of various low to medium complexity systems in conventional diesel, battery electric, and autonomous vehicles
Manage all aspects of Functional Safety conformance, including assessment of drop-in designs
Collaborate locally and globally, if applicable, to evaluate process gaps and lead engineers to meet an acceptable safety level
Define areas for improvement within the designs and work with design teams to achieve the goals
Lead and moderate Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARAs) and ensure global alignment when applicable
Lead and ensure technical completeness of all Functional Safety work products: Item Definitions, Safety Plans, Risk Assessments, Development Interface Agreements, Safety Concepts and Test Cases
Manage Safety Plans to align with product flow and functions
Propose and develop Safety Concepts and assemble/ensure completeness of Safety Cases
Develop detailed safety requirements for features, systems, and components
Work with Engineering and Purchasing teams to support and conduct conformity checks for the Supplier Component Requirement Specs process for low to medium complexity systems
Moderate Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) and Fault Tree Analyses (FTAs) for low to medium complexity systems
Track action assignments and drive them to closure
Interact with engineering customers and suppliers to develop robust requirements
Manage Engineering Quality reporting, KPIs, and track concerns
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
BS in Electrical, Mechanical (with Elecrical focus), Software Engineering (other Engineering disciplines may be considered with relevant EE experience) and 2-4 years of relevant experience is required
Demonstrated proficiency in the application of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety)
Must be well organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management are required
Excellent project management and leadership skills are required
Strong interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills are required
Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated are required
Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change is required

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)
Strong knowledge of automotive/heavy duty truck industry products are preferred
Functional Safety (ISO 26262) Certification is preferred
Knowledge of or experience in the application of ISO 21448 (Safety of the Intended Function) is preferred
Knowledge of or experience with Automotive Software Performance Improvement and Capability determination (ASPICE) assessments are preferred
Knowledge of or experience with conducting Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis is preferred
Knowledge of or experience with Component Requirement Specs (CRS) and Contractual Implementation Specs (CIS) are preferre
Strong technical proficiency with DTNA products with a focus on electrical engineering is preferred
