Mechatronics combines mechanical engineering, controls engineering, software design, electronic hardware, sensors and electrical harnesses. A challenging assignment when you are responsible for safely starting, running and stopping a truck from the batteries to the starter motor to the engine and transmission, to the instrumentation and safety systems such as radar based collision mitigation and wireless telematics with GPS, and finally safely stopping the vehicle with Antilock Braking System.
The Instrumentation team designs products that provide the interface for the operator to obtain information about the performance and status of the vehicle through digital displays and analog gauges.
Write technical specifications for driver interface devices
Analyze data (warranty reports, reliability growth data, customer data, etc.) to understand failure modes and areas for design improvement
Process engineering documentation of parts and BOMs
Work closely with multiple engineering design teams to ensure design completeness.
Maintain a high level and detailed overview on technical status of instrumentation projects
Support Daimler production facilities
Interface with Engineering Program Management, Product Validation and Product Strategy
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
BS/BA Engineering Degree , Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)
0-2 years of relevant experience is preferred
4 years of relevant experience is preferred
Ability to maintain multiple projects is preferred
Preferred experience in user interface is preferred
Preferred experience with vehicle data bus and CAN communications is preferred
Motivated, self-starter and proactive individual is preferred
Demonstrate problem solving skills is preferred
Represent DTNA with external customers and partners is preferred
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills required is preferred
