Job Overview

The Mechatronics department is responsible for the electrical, electronics and controls aspects of the vehicles at Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). We create hardware and software solutions to realize customer requirements and make our vehicles more safe, more user friendly and more capable.This exciting role within the Mechatronics department will be responsible for designing, developing, and coordinating the implementation of powertrain, lighting and control designs in to production. You will focus on the coordinating between software feature developers, and multiple packaging groups to identify the best designs to implement in production. Once the design is in production, you will work with multiple groups to maintain and to continuously improve the design.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for new product development, current product engineering and parameterization of the Powertrain, Lighting and Control designs.

  • Extensive communication within Freightliner organizations as well as supplier interface, design review activity, and execution of the quality gate system.

  • Prioritize assignments consistent with business goals and successfully implement projects on time and within budget.

  • Proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks.

  • Support service, manufacturing and suppliers on the elimination of problems with current production designs.

  • Create and release production documentation for electronic transmissions, including – harness drawings, wire diagrams, interface specifications, and production bill of materials.

  • Interface and coordinate with Product Strategy, Manufacturing, Suppliers, Purchasing, Materials, Quality & Warranty to ensure early input into project needs (front-loading).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • ME, EE, Mechatronics, Engineering or related is required

  • Experience in identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems is required

  • Ability to motivate self and others via collaboration and good team work skills is required

  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills is required

  • Experience to analyze circuits and control systems is required

  • An attached resume is required

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree & 0-2 years of experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of vehicle communications systems, sensors, and real time controllers is preferred

  • Development of electrical/electronic systems for automotive and/or truck applications is preferred

  • Knowledge of vehicle assembly plant processes is preferred

  • Proficiency in MS Office is preferred

  • @hybrid: Number of days at home and at the office will be determined through an ongoing conversation with your Manager. DTNA will ensure that your WFH set-up meets Wi-Fi / data minimum requirements and sets you up for success. Travel to the office is not reimbursed and employee must live close enough to attend regular in-person collaborative meeting with at least 24-hour notice.
