The Structures and Shakers Labs (SSL) team in the Vehicle Durability and Reliability Testing (VDRT) plays an important role in validating truck structures and components through accelerated testing, physical simulation, data acquisition and analysis. The lab uses digitally-controlled servo-hydraulic test equipment to accelerate truck durability/rough road testing. The position is located in Portland, OR with opportunity for occasional travel (<5%) to Madras, OR.
The Technician supports all activities in the Shaker Lab including: assembly of shaker rigs, set-up of shaker tests, running shaker tests, inspection and documentation of test issues, instrumentation and data acquisition, preventative maintenance and service of hydraulic equipment and infrastructure.
The technician is responsible for supporting all test functions in the shaker lab.
Shaker rig assembly and fixture fabrication.
Shaker set-up and configuration.
Inspection and photographic documentation of test issues.
Truck component repair and replacement.
Instrumentation and data acquisition.
Preventative maintenance and service of hydraulic equipment
Organize work environment with cleanliness and safety in mind.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)
A high school diploma (or equivalent) with 3 years of related experience OR an associate's degree (or higher) required in lieu of experience
Willing to learn continuously, contribute to system improvements, and succeed both as an individual and in a team environment
Good oral and written communication
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve, with an innovative mindset
Computer proficiency (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Proficient with power tools and hand tools
Able to work at heights and in confined spaces
Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and >50 lbs. on occasion
Ability to read and understand mechanical assembly diagrams

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)
Associates Degree Mechanical Engineering Technology
Associates Degree Industrial Mechanics and Maintenance Technology
Proficient with basic machine tools
Powered lift truck and overhead crane proficient, or ability to become within 3 months
Experienced with industrial hydraulic power unit operation and maintenance
Willing to obtain a commercial driver’s license within the first 12 months
