The successful candidate for this position will be a skilled communicator who fosters an atmosphere of support and collaboration with teammates and cross-departmental colleagues. They will also greet new challenges with positivity and resourcefulness fully representing and integrating the ‘One Team Best Team’ principle in daily decision-making and interactions with others. In this position, you will be responsible for steering systems integration on traditional and alternative energy powered commercial vehicles. This person will develop steering solutions for the North American commercial vehicle market as well as collaborate with our worldwide engineering teams to develop and align global strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in the design and development of best in class steering systems and components that are safe, reliable, serviceable, and competitive

  • Develop steering solutions for traditional and alternative fueled DTNA vehicle platforms

  • Fully represent and integrate the ‘One Team Best Team’ principle in daily decision-making and interactions with others

  • Foster an atmosphere of support and collaboration with teammates and cross-departmental colleagues

  • Provide a broad emphasis on continuous improvement and challenge others to meet top performance potential

  • Provide creative, cost effective, and technically feasible technical solutions for problems encountered during the development, validation, production tryout, and post changeover project phases

  • Successfully implement projects on time and within budget. Proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks; effectively champion strategic goals both internally and externally, using established visual management tools

  • Use CAD and other design tools to create and maintain 3D part designs, detailed 2D part and assembly drawings, GD&T, packaging studies, and installation diagrams. Develop, release, and maintain accurate Engineering documentation

  • Manage multiple assignments concurrently, and prioritize them in a manner consistent with business goals

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelors degree with an Engineering discipline OR 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree required

  • Demonstrated 2D/3D CAD tools expertise is required (Experience using Siemens NX preferred) required

  • Preparing and giving presentations to small and large groups required

  • Understanding of engineering and upstream and downstream processes required

  • Demonstrated strong verbal, written, and presentation skills required

  • Experience designing metal parts in multiple processes (e.g. press brake sheet metal, stampings, castings, extrusions, etc.) required

  • Experience/communication skills working cross-culturally required

  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite software to prepare and communicate project updates required

  • Experience using Microsoft Project to develop and maintain project timing required

  • At least 1 year of group leader, project leader, or mentoring experience required

Typical Minimum Experience Preferred (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Master’s Degree with a focus in either Engineering or Business preferred

  • 5-7 years of relevant experience preferred

  • Experience using Microsoft Project to develop and maintain project timing preferred

  • Experience with DTNA systems preferred

  • Demonstrated experience developing creative design solutions for truck systems preferred

  • Knowledge of vehicle assembly plant process preferred
